We recommend saving or printing a copy of these Terms for your records.

1. Who We Are

AlphaSuite is a protein structure annotation and visualisation service available at alphasuite.bio. It is developed and operated by AvennaX (company registration in progress; until incorporation is complete, AlphaSuite is operated by its founding team). 2. Age Requirement

AlphaSuite is intended for users aged 16 and over. By using AlphaSuite, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old. If you are under 16, you must not use this service.

3. What AlphaSuite Provides

AlphaSuite is a research, educational, and bioinformatics productivity tool. It allows you to:

  • Look up protein structures using UniProt or PDB identifiers
  • View interactively annotated 3D protein structures
  • Explore domain and motif annotations drawn from public scientific databases
  • Download PyMOL annotation scripts for use with compatible third-party software

AlphaSuite retrieves data from third-party public scientific databases (including UniProt, InterPro, PDBe, SIFTS, RCSB PDB, and AlphaFold DB). This data is provided for informational and research purposes only. A full list of data sources and their applicable licences is available on our Licences page.

AlphaSuite is currently provided free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid plans or features in the future; if we do, separate terms will apply to any paid features and we will give you reasonable prior notice.

4. Permitted Use

You may use AlphaSuite for personal, academic, and commercial research purposes, subject to these Terms and to the terms of the underlying third-party data providers referenced at /licences. In particular, if you incorporate AlphaSuite output into publications, reports, products, or downstream analyses, you remain responsible for complying with the attribution and licence requirements of the upstream data sources.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • Use AlphaSuite for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that violates any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
  • Use automated scripts, bots, crawlers, or scrapers to make bulk or high-volume requests that degrade service for other users or place unreasonable load on our systems or on the upstream data providers we rely on
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to AlphaSuite, our servers, or any database or system connected to the service
  • Introduce, transmit, or enable viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs, or other malicious or technologically harmful material
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of AlphaSuite, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law
  • Remove, obscure, or modify any copyright, licence, trademark, or attribution notice
  • Present or pass off AlphaSuite’s interface, design, or output as your own product without attribution, or in any way likely to create confusion about the origin of the service
  • Use AlphaSuite in any manner that infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party
  • Engage in any conduct that is harmful, offensive, harassing, or objectionable

6. Intellectual Property

The AlphaSuite software, codebase, interface, design, branding (including the AlphaSuite name and logo), and original written content are the intellectual property of AvennaX / the AlphaSuite founding team. All rights are reserved.

The scientific data displayed by AlphaSuite — including protein annotations, structure coordinates, domain classifications, and predicted models — is sourced from third-party public databases and remains subject to their respective licences and attribution requirements, as described on the Licences page.

Third-party open-source software used to build and operate AlphaSuite is used in accordance with its applicable open-source licence, as described on the Licences page.

Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use AlphaSuite’s trademarks, branding, or proprietary materials beyond what is necessary for ordinary use of the service.

7. Third-Party Data and Scientific Accuracy

AlphaSuite relies on data from public scientific databases maintained by third parties. We do not warrant that third-party data is complete, current, or free from errors. Annotations, predicted structures, and database cross-references may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information.

AlphaSuite output must not be used as the sole basis for clinical, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, regulatory, or safety-critical decisions without independent expert verification. AlphaSuite is a research and productivity tool; it is not a medical device and does not constitute professional scientific, medical, or regulatory advice.

8. Availability and Changes to the Service

We aim to keep AlphaSuite available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, continuous, or error-free access. We may suspend, withdraw, restrict, or modify all or any part of AlphaSuite at any time for operational, business, legal, or maintenance reasons. We will endeavour to give reasonable notice of significant changes, but this may not always be possible.

We are not responsible to you if AlphaSuite is unavailable at any time or for any period, or if the content of the service changes.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AlphaSuite is provided “as is” and “as available” without any representation or warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. We make no warranty that the service will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any results or data obtained through the service will be accurate or reliable.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales, including (without limitation) liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable to you for:

  • Any loss of profits, revenue, business, anticipated savings, or goodwill
  • Any loss of data or corruption of data
  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss
  • Any loss or damage arising from your reliance on AlphaSuite output for clinical, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, or safety-critical purposes

Our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the use of AlphaSuite shall not exceed £100 (one hundred pounds sterling).

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other matter for which liability cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by these Terms.

11. Privacy and Data Protection

Our Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data when you use AlphaSuite. By using AlphaSuite, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Notice, which forms part of these Terms.

12. Cookies and Local Storage

AlphaSuite does not use cookies. We use your browser’s local storage solely to remember your preferred colour theme. See our Cookies & Local Storage page for full details.

13. Open-Source Components and Third-Party Licences

AlphaSuite is built with open-source software and uses publicly available scientific data. A full summary of all third-party software licences, data source attributions, and citation expectations is available on the Licences page. Those third-party terms govern your use of the underlying components and data accordingly.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Where we make material changes, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice (for example, by updating the date prominently). Your continued use of AlphaSuite after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

We will always try to resolve any dispute with you quickly and informally. If you have a complaint or concern, please contact us at AvennaXLtd@outlook.com in the first instance.

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, both parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights you may hold under the laws of your country of residence.

16. Severability and Waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions. Our failure to enforce any right or provision in these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Notice, Cookies & Local Storage page, and Licences page, constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to AlphaSuite, and supersede all prior representations and agreements.
